Carissa Pickering, BS, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Carissa was born and raised in Conifer, Colorado. She joined Westernaires at the age of 9, where she competed for 10 years in precision drills, as well as performing for the National Western Stock Show. Carissa achieved captain of two teams and lead both teams to first place. She also competed in bareback vaulting and pole bending. She was very active in high school with track and volleyball.

After high school, Carissa attended University of northern Colorado where she received her Bachelors Degree in Economics. She interned at Kindness Ranch American Sanctuary for Research Animals, in Glendo, Wyoming, where she assisted the owners in running a nonprofit business. She also helped with rehabilitating and introducing animals such as sheep, pigs, horses, cats and dogs into their new environment. Carissa then assisted in the adoption program provided for the animals.

She went back to school and attended Bel-Rea School of Veterinary Technology. While she was attending school and working towards her certification, she worked in a small animal clinic for two years in Park Meadows, Colorado. She then came to Countryside Large Animal as in intern for three months and is now a full time technician, assisting Dr. Bott.

Carissa currently lives in Greeley with her husband. In her spare time she enjoys camping, visiting with her family and her three nephews and niece, and is still an avid volleyball player year round on a competitive league.
