Our equine dentist,
Doug Jergens, obtained Advanced Certification through The
Academy of Equine Dentistry and maintains his certification by teaching at the
Academy and frequently attending continuing education courses. He employs the
latest techniques and equipment to achieve and maintain ideal oral health in
your equine companions. It is more than just ‘floating’. It starts with a
thorough examination of the oral cavity using adequate sedation, oral speculum
and good lighting to assess the individual needs of each horse. No two horses
have the same needs or issues. Mechanized equipment allows for the safe and
efficient correction of any imbalances. Thus allowing the horse a painless full
range of motion and optimal utilization of all of that expensive feed!
Semi-annual or annual maintenance is necessary depending on such things as age
of horse, conformation of the oral cavity, and what the horse’s job is. The
equine dentistry offers another opportunity for us to play a vital role in the
long term well being of the horse. |
