Amanda Milton is one of the veterans around CLAVS. She has been a great asset to the CLAVS doctors since 2003. Amanda is a Board Certified Veterinary Technician and Anesthesiologist, who typically assists Dr. Shoemaker and is involved in all surgical cases with the critical anesthesia. Amanda received her certification from the Bel-Rea School of Veterinary Technology. Amanda’s technician career started out at a small animal clinic in Brighton, Colorado while she attended Bel-Rea. However, after an internship with CLAVS, while at Bel-Rea, she realized her desire to stay in large animal.
Amanda started showing horses at the ripe old age of two years old. Although her main focus was the horses, Amanda believes that she showed every animal imaginable in her local 4-H program. She competed in english pleasure/jumping, dressage, all western classes, team penning, cutting, and timed events. Her heavy participation made her a prime candidate and eventual winner of the 2001 Adams County Fair and Rodeo Queen. Amanda still enjoys running barrels and competes all over in WPRA/PCRA Rodeos. Her love of animals isn’t limited to just the horses though. Amanda is very gentle and cohesive with many types of animals. She and her German Shepherd, Sadie, were active members with the Rampart Search and Rescue where Sadie was involved in many mountain rescues. Now she currently has two German Shepherds, one cat, goats, horses, and a very outspoken macaw named Scarlet. Amanda lives in Milliken, Colorado with a number of horses and various other critters. She enjoys camping, barrel racing and spending time outdoors.
